Mazandaran Kilim carpet from Persia
The Mazandaran kilims are woven using local wool with natural dyes, in the most remote mountainous regions of northwest Iran. These kilims are woven on a narrow loom first, then two or more pieces are stitched together by hand to create a bigger piece. Although the process of producing a Mazandaran kilim is quite time consuming, the stunning result is well worth the labour. Mazandaran kilims' sophisticated and moderate approach to design, often appears noticeably modern, in its visual simplicity.
